Terms of use

By using Display Detective you agree to these terms.

Licence

You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Display Detective on Macs you own or control, subject to the Mac App Store terms.

As is

Display Detective is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The app is a diagnostic aid. Verdicts, numbers and explanations can be wrong. Do not rely on it for safety-critical or commercial decisions about cables, adapters, monitors or purchases.

Changing display settings

When you press Run, or Run anyway, in the Troubleshoot tab, or when an AI assistant or a Shortcut does it through the command line tool, the MCP server or the Shortcuts actions, the app changes display settings on your Mac and reverts them after 15 seconds unless you keep them. You use this feature at your own risk. Always keep a way to see your screen, for example a second display, while you try a change. Steps in the By hand and Danger zone groups are done by you, outside the app, and are your responsibility.

No obligation to maintain

We are not obliged to provide updates, bug fixes, support or compatibility with future macOS releases.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Franz Enzenhofer / fullstackoptimization.com is not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from the use of Display Detective, including damage to monitors, cables, adapters, devices or data.

Reverse engineering

Display Detective is closed source. You may not decompile or reverse-engineer the app except where Apple's Mac App Store terms or applicable law expressly permit it.

Termination

This licence ends automatically if you stop using the app or break these terms.

Governing law

Austrian law applies, to the extent permitted by Apple's Mac App Store terms.
